Editorial standards and practices

Updated: January 27, 2026

At Natural Healers, we believe that when people have comprehensive, accurate and up-to-date information about their education options, they’re in the best position to start, change or advance careers.

But taking the leap to pursue higher education can be overwhelming. Questions about your degree options, what to expect, how to pay for school, what you’ll study, career trends and more are bound to arise. We’re not here to sell you on any school or program—our mission is to provide you with answers so you can decide what’s best for you and your career.

Our editorial process

Our content advances through a multistep editorial workflow of writers and editors before it ever goes online. Within this process, we fact-check information for accuracy, copyedit for clarity and ensure that all our content adheres to our in-house editorial style guide. In addition, we revisit our content regularly to make sure the information is up to date with the latest industry standards, certification requirements, salary data and more so it remains relevant to our readers over time.

The content we publish never promotes any of the individual schools or programs in our listings because our editorial team operates independently of our partnerships team. School partners cannot pay for favorable editorial reviews or influence our career advice. Our mission is simply to give prospective students the information they want and need to make educated decisions about their future. To that end, we take great care to distinguish between facts and opinions, and we validate our technical content through our network of industry professionals to ensure it reflects real-world standards.

How we assure accuracy

Our content is rooted in meticulous research that prioritizes primary sources and information from reputable industry organizations. This approach ensures accuracy and keeps our content aligned with the latest industry standards available. We provide external links to sources where possible—government agencies, professional associations and more—so that our readers can continue their research beyond our content alone.

For instance, we source all our salary and job outlook data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and O*NET OnLine, official government websites produced by the U.S. Department of Labor. Other trusted sources include, but are not limited to:

  • National Center for Education Statistics (NCES)
  • National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health
  • Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation (COMTA)
  • Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (ACAHM)
  • Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE)
  • National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM)

How we establish trust

We believe that content is infinitely more useful, reliable and inspiring when it’s infused with insights from real industry professionals. That’s why we strive to include subject matter expertise in as much of our content as possible. Our writers source active professionals, academic instructors, industry leaders and current or former students whose experiences can provide practical guidance to our readers.

In addition to subject matter expertise, many of the writers in our freelance network have a diverse range of professional backgrounds that inform their writing and research, and many have been writing about their niche for years.

How we uphold diversity, equity and inclusion

Our organization believes that higher education has a responsibility to ensure meaningful outcomes for every learner. Our goal is to provide resources that help everyone—especially historically underserved communities—with fairness, accessibility and freedom from bias. To uphold these principles, our editorial team prioritizes publishing content that elevates diverse perspectives and reflects the varied experiences of today’s students. In addition, our editorial team consults style guides published by organizations such as the National Center on Disability and Journalism (NCDJ) and GLAAD to ensure that our language is inclusive and respectful. We also seek out contributors and interview subjects from a wide range of lived experiences.
